Stayed there for 2 nights and it was absolutely magnificent. Amazingly well built cabins with the finest details taken into account, we were looked after so well by Kevin and Emma. Perfect countryside escape!
Created some incredible memories: having lunch & playing scrabble with the chickens, meeting the goats and super friendly cat!! Relaxing in the hot tub under the stars and of course enjoying the delicious sourdough loaf made by Emma. We cant wait to come back!!

We’ve just had our third stay at Mill Cross Retreats and loved it as always! We’ve come twice in the winter and once in the summer. The Jenny Wren shepherds hut is really comfortable, cosy and clean. It’s so peaceful and private and the wood fired hot tub amongst the trees is incredible. Kevin and Emma are so welcoming, and the additional touches like good quality tea and coffee and homemade biscotti is lovely. Highly recommend getting the breakfast ingredients (Emma’s homemade bread is soooo good!). There’s so much to do around here with Dartmoor and the South West coast path a short drive away. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful four-night stay in Jenny Wren - the setting is beautiful and peaceful with views of the garden. Everything has been thought about in the accommodation and while we only cooked basic things, the kitchen was well stocked with equipment and utensils. Thoughtful extras such as biscotti and tea/ organic coffee were a nice touch. We also enjoyed the exclusive hot tub, with a view of the stars! The hosts are kind and attentive with a clear focus on eco-friendly and sustainable living. It was a wonderful way of experiencing this corner of Devon, with a real community feel. It is easy to access local towns/ villages, as well as Dartmoor and the coast. We also attended a cookery course at the Bakehouse, which I would highly recommend. We will definitely be back!

What an absolute taste of heaven. We've had the fantastic opportunity to stay at the Oystercatcher for our mini honeymoon. Both Emma and Kevin are absolutely fantastic hosts, who took care of all our needs in a respectful, non-intrusive and very supportive way. You can tell they pour a lot of their passion into this project, and it shows. From the tasteful decorations, to the holistic pursuit of sustainable products and solutions, their kindness towards animals and their excellent cookery classes. You can already tell by other reviews that they're more than worth it.
Do you enjoy blissful countryside, beautiful nature, a wooden hot tub, free roaming animals, a glass of wine with a book in the fields, home made food, locally sourced products and/or great cookery classes? If so, we'd highly recommend staying at Mill Cross Retreats. If not, you should give it try ;)

We had a fabulous day at Mill Cross. Emma & Kevin were amazing hosts, they made us feel at home and we got involved with all the preparation of a fabulous Persian feast! You wont go home hungry! The grounds are beautiful and we had a great day out, we will definitely be returning!

What a wonderful place and a really enjoyable course making a Willow Trug. A beautiful and relaxing space to unwind and I have already booked to return. Emma & Kevin are welcoming hosts and the woodfired pizza lunch, cake and biscotti were the best I have tasted. Easy to find, good parking, facilities are great and well worth a visit.

I cannot recommend the cookery class I took part in this weekend at The Bakehouse with Emma making focaccia, pizza and meringues enough! The setting was absolutely beautiful and as soon as Emma introduced herself I felt like I had known her all my life. She was engaging and passionate when she taught and made me feel comfortable asking any questions I may have had. The end result was absolutely delicious and I left feeling happy and very full!! Thank you Emmä :)

My partner and I have stayed with Emma and Kevin a couple of times now. We stayed in Jenny Wren, the shepherds hut. It’s a beautiful hut with everything you need, hand-built by Kevin. Emma makes the most delicious sourdough and cakes and both of them ensure that you have everything you need for your stay. We stayed for a birthday and an anniversary and had the most relaxing and peaceful time in the cosy hut and hot tub! Highly recommend!

Today I took part in the calligraphy workshop held at Millcross Retreats and it was amazing. A warm welcome by the hosts, Emma & Kevin, a delicious pizza lunch and a fantastic lesson in how to achieve traditional style calligraphy writing. Cake and tea was also provided! Came away with a new found hobby! Will definitely keep an eye out for future workshops! Highly recommend!

I had the most wonderful morning at Mill Cross Bakehouse meeting like-minded people and cooking Italian food from scratch with wonderful quality ingredients. We made pizzas, focaccia and hazelnut meringues which were then cooked for us to eat there or take home (we did a bit of both!). We took a break for some tea, coffee and homemade bakes which was a lovely opportunity to get to know others on the course a bit more. The grounds at Mill Cross Retreats were stunning with some friendly goats and chickens. I even managed to sneak off to meet the resident spaniel Juno. The atmosphere is so peaceful and welcoming, I really just wish I could move in! Emma, the owner and host could not have been a kinder more personable teacher! I will definitely be booking into more day courses and a stay in one of the air bnbs!
